I have been working as a counsellor and psychotherapist for 12 years. I have worked for a variety of private, statutory and charitable organizations as a counsellor, trainer, coordinator of counselling services, manager and supervisor. I consider myself a ‘pluralistic’ practitioner, this means that I am fundamentally influenced in practicing counselling or therapy by one specific approach: the Person Centred Approach, however, I believe that many therapy approaches can be useful. Therefore, my practice is also informed by certain aspects of CBT, brief solution focused therapy and motivational interviewing. I also value other ‘healing’ traditions that are part of the culture and the experience of my clients. For example a spiritual practice, the use of nature to enhance well being, body-work, the power of community or meditation and contemplative rituals amongst others.
My professional background is in psychology and counseling psychology, I am an accredited and registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) of which I follow its professional conduct and ethics. I am a member of the British Psychological Society (BPS). However, I do not tend to work with diagnoses unless this is important to you.
I have worked with a wide range of adult clients and I am currently the Head of therapy services with Terrence Higgins Trust. I also supervise trainees and therapists as well as social workers and other practitioners working in the health and social care sector as well as the well-being industries.
I have various professional interests from the renaissance of psychedelics, eastern forms of therapy such as Morita Therapy to critical psychology and psychiatry.
